OVERVIEW

             Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a specialized field of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis and both medical and surgical management of conditions affecting the Oro facial region. The department integrates clinical care with academic training, equipping students with surgical skills and patient management expertise. It also engages in research and advanced treatment procedures.

MISSION

  • The department is committed to deliver evidence-based education with comprehensive UG and PG training, emphasizing hands-on skills through preclinical as well as surgical training and workshops. It adopts an interdisciplinary approach, promoting research and short studies alongside clinical care.
  • Through active community outreach programs and camps, the department addresses oral and maxillofacial pathologies and abnormalities with precision and also building students confidence in accurately diagnosing and delivering appropriate treatment.
  • Our mission is to develop skilled surgeons, foster innovation, and improve oral and general health at regional and national levels.

UG Clinic

  • Our UG clinic is very spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with enough chairs for students to work comfortably.
  • The reception has a spacious waiting hall for patients, adorned with patient education posters and pamphlets, along with a TV displaying educational videos about various treatment options.
  • A well-equipped museum displays various forceps, elevators, skulls, and mandible specimens, serving as an important learning resource for UG students.
  • The undergraduate training program is designed to make students proficient in minor surgical procedures such as tooth extractions, biopsy, pre-prosthetic surgeries, and infection management, with emphasis on strict aseptic protocols and painless surgical procedures under local anaesthesia. The department also incorporates audio-visual aids to help calm patients during treatment, enhancing both patient comfort and student learning.
  • Students are trained in detailed case history recording, thorough pre-treatment medical evaluation, and management of medically compromised patients, providing a strong foundation for advanced surgical procedures and general dental practice.

PG CLINIC

  • The department has a separate PG clinic equipped with advanced instruments for surgical training. It includes a seminar room with a projector and a well-stocked library containing essential reference books.
  • A minor operation theatre with necessary equipment and an exclusive sterilization wing ensure adherence to surgical protocols.
  • The teaching program is structured to train postgraduate students in both minor and major maxillofacial surgeries – Trauma, Maxillofacial pathologies, Orthognathic surgeries, Implantology and Cosmetic procedures along with emergency care and in-hospital patient management.
  • Additionally, 2–3 specialized workshops are conducted, including microvascular surgery, orthognathic surgery, and cleft lip and palate management, to enhance advanced surgical skills.

UG FACILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • Conveniently located for easy patient access, the clinic is well-equipped with a dedicated sterilization center, regular biweekly fumigation, and proper biomedical waste management systems.
  • It also features a seminar room, RVG, and a piezo unit for enhanced clinical training, along with wheelchairs and stretchers to facilitate patient mobility and access.
  • The clinic includes spacious patient waiting areas, educational displays, and teaching aids such as skulls and mandible models to support undergraduate learning.

  • Conveniently located for easy patient access and equipped with comprehensive sterilization facilities, the department includes a minor OT, attached Blood bank and Lab , Major OT, recovery room, ICU, and separate male and female wards.
  • It also features a seminar room with a projector, dedicated PG and staff rooms, and is furnished with advanced equipment—all designed to support comprehensive postgraduate training.

  • It is fully equipped with state-of-the-art instruments. It is a fully functional, modern OT equipped with , trained assisting Medical Professionals, laminar flow systems, and LED operating lights with live surgery camera projection and audio facilities and a well-organized recovery system.
  • The facility includes hospital beds, separate male and female wards with centralized oxygen supply and suction systems, a recovery room, and an ICU with multiparameter monitoring and ventilator support.
  • All units function under 24-hour medical supervision, ensuring optimal patient care
